The purpose of the entries that I make in a spiral bound notebook is to promote the sense that I am writing about my trip. Generally, they consist only of the date, mileage, location, and gasoline data when I buy fuel. I often think about what I could write, occasionally I do write more. There is a temptation to edit my raw notes for readability and expand them somewhat as I enter them in this blog. I'm trying to resist these, the intent is the essence of the raw log.
I inserted photos I took along the way at a later time. By selecting one of these pictures, a slide show opens up, at least on my computer. Perhaps I'll add titles and descriptions at a later date.

Look for my life. Did I pass it in Clifton, Texas? stopping at David's Market for camp supplies - chips, Tostitos, Busch Texas Special Edition Beer and a chuck steak, and ice. The ice was 10 olbs for 1.00, cheaper than Walmart. The checker was an oh so pretty young texas blonde in tight jeans - saying Have a nice day.Her Spanish young companion check plumber darker skin a nice compliment - typical Texas women oh so young and pretty. The Clifton Record, the newspaper. Norweigian capital of Texas, a down town store front with a Norweign (sp?) mural highlighting Christmas. A large rolling City Park marked the site of a horse and cattle fair. A Brookshire store on the North side of town. The apparent alternative to Walmart of which the closest was 20 miles away.
An up to date Texas Country Hill Band played " Hey Good Looking" as I shopped in David's Market over the sound system, the old Hank Williams classic.
Meridian, the Top of the Hill Country, the site of Meridian State Park, a little too close to Highway 22 for my liking. I camped in a different spot than the one I was assigned. Meridian and Clifton are close together. Separate by a highway patrol sanctioned bicycle tour. Meridian may be developing retirement subdivision.
Melocholy early morning Bunkhouse Serenade plays Country Music fit to make one cry. "This Old Hat", "Blue Northener". There's a blue Northener coming in as the cowboys rode back to the house where the little women has beans, biscuits, and coffee waiting and nervously looked out the window ever minute or two in the growing dark and falling snow until the lights of the house were spied a hundred yards ahead. "Cowboy Coffee"
