So here I am in Hereford,Texas which no one has ever heard of including me. I'm on the journey of my 70th year looking for my life. Departing Colorado Springs at 8:30 AM, the first leg of my trip led easterly across New Mexico through Clayton etc. It was windy and dusty and dry on this first day of spring, March 26th, 2012. The top of the Eurovan Camper flopped unervingly noisily at times.
My destination for the evening was Palo Duro State Park. The Garmin Nuvii Navigator had conviently picked a route that mostly bypassed Amarillo on the south-west. I ended up driving on US 385 through Channing. This also passed by Boy's Ranch. Construction was underway there on a grander entrance. What would Cal Farley thought about that? A little South of there I was supposed to turn onto County 1061. Construction was underway, I waited in a flagman's line for a while and decided to jump out of line, take a road less traveled and continue South on US 385. Along the way, I noticed modern wind generators, the new oil?
That brought me to Hereford for which I had seen a billboard advertising motels and restaurants earlierly. There I found a Best Western Red Carpet Inn, a K-Bob's Restaurant and the distinct odour (sp?) of cow in the air.
