US Highway 385, Day Two and Three

Camping at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska was quite a surpise.  The beaches were huge, there indeed was lots of sand, lots of room for beach camping, camping right at waters edge if you desired.  We camped at the Cottonwoods Camp ground below the dam in the shade of many cottonwood trees and grass. 

US Highway 385, Day One

To reach US 385 in Colorado, I first drove east on US 94 early in the morning of June 27, 2013.  This shot is looking back to the west.

The vehicle for the trip was the trusty 1995 I-5 cylinder auto transmission VW Eurovan Camper, Sharon.

How about government buildings that get better with age and  never die; preserved at taxpayers expense.

The beginning of US 385, also named the High Plains Highway as it proceeds northerly in this region of far Eastern Colorado.

I wondered if this dome hid a missile and then I concluded that the lack of military security meant no.  Perhaps an oil storage tank?  If so, compliments the industrial nature of US 385 in this region.

Campsite below the dam of Lake McCoughny at the Cottonwoods Campground.  We departed from US385 in order to camp here.  There is not much camping along US 385 in Colorado and pan handle Nebraska.  So I changed the rules, temporarily.  Arriving late on Thursday afternoon, ended staying three nights.  Friday was spent exploring the lake's beaches and by then it was too late to drive on.  Especailly not wanting to find a camping spot on a Saturday.  Ending staying thee nights.

God's Message To You Today

God's Message To You Today

YOU ARE MINE FOR ALL TIME -- and beyond time, into eternity. No power can deny you your inheritance in heaven.  I want you to realize how utterly secure you are! Even if you falter as you journey through life, I will never let go of your hand.

Knowing that your future is absolutely assured can free you to live abundantly today.  I have prepared this day for you with the most tender concern and attention to detail.  Instead of approaching the day as a blank page that you need to fill up, try living it in a responsive mode:  BEING ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ALL THAT I AM DOING.  This sounds easy, but it requires a deep level of trust, based on the knowledge that My way is perfect.

God's Message to You Today

DO NOT LONG for the absence of problems in your life.  That is an unrealistic goal, since in this world you will have trouble. You have an eternity of problem-free living reserved for your in heaven. Rejoice in that inheritance, which no one can take away from you, but do not seek your heaven on earth.

Begin each day anticipating problems, asking Me to equip you for whatever difficulties you will encounter.  The best equipping is My Living Presence, My hand that never lets go of yours. Discuss everything with Me.  Take a lighthearted view of trouble, seeing it as a challenge that you and I together can handle.  Remember that I am on your side, and I have overcome the world.

God's Message To You Today

SEEK ME  with your whole being.  I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind.  When things go well and your are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you.  When you encounter rough patches along your life-journey, trust that My Light is still shining upon you.  My reasons for allowing these adversities may be shrouded in mystery, but My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise.  Seek Me in good times; seek me in hard times.  You will find Me watching over you all the time.

God's Message To You Today

WAITING, TRUSTING, AND HOPING are intricately connected like golden strands interwoven to form a strong chain.  Trusting is the central strand, because it is the response from My children that I desire the most.  Waiting and hoping embellish the central strand and strengthen the chain that connects you to Me.  Waiting for Me to work, with your eyes on Me is evidence that you really do trust Me.  If you mouth the words, "I trust You" while anxiously trying to make things go your way, your words ring hollow. Hoping is future-directed, connecting you to your inheritance in heaven.  However, the benefits of hope fall fully on you in the present.

Because you are mine, you don't just pass time in your waiting.  You can wait expectantly, in hopeful trust.  Keep you antennae' out to pick up even the faintest glimmer of My Presence.
